Korean Festival!

2012 Korean Festival

http://www.koreanfestivalhouston.com/index.htm

The Korean Festival (K-Fest) was created with the idea of uniting the Korean Community while showcasing Korean culture to the Greater Houston Community. The 2012 K-Fest will provide a fair-like atmosphere for diverse groups and performers such as traditional Korean dancers, Korean folk musicians, TaeKwonDo masters, and Korean American musicians who will conduct demonstrations and exhibit their unique talents.

Our goals are to:

  • Raise awareness of Korean culture through culinary, artistic, and theatrical expressions from various vendors and performers,
  • Strengthen relationships between the Korean community and the City of Houston,
  • And bridge the cultural gap between the first and second generation of Korean-Americans.

The 2012 K-Fest will be an experience unlike any other in the great City of Houston that both Koreans and non-Koreans can enjoy for free.

  • 5:30pm-6:00pm: Heus
    Aspiring Korean hip hop artist.
  • 6:00pm-7:00pm: Kim Tae Woo
God father of K-POP, and original lead singer of popular boy band g.o.d.

Had a lot of fun with the group, though the booths and food stalls were shutting down early. Made a new friend, who has almost convinced me to try some Korean Pancakes next time I come across them!

So...what time's everyone getting there/where are we all meeting?

    November 1, 2012

    • Erin

Let's meet at the corner of Crawford and McKinney, near the "spitting" water fountains. I'll wear a grey converse cap. I'm going to try my best to get there by 530. I will be coming from Rosenberg.

There's a Lam Parking on McKinney street that's pretty cheap, was just $2 as of last year at least, although I don't know if event will make it more expensive

Hi Erin. I went to this fest last year, it was a good time. Will see if I can make it by the end of the week. Thanks

Im interested in attending earlier to see some of the traditional entertainment. Email me if you are also.
There is a woman playing a twelve string Korean instrument around noon I would like yo see. There is a link to the schedule in Erin's note.

There are some interesting performances starting around Noon also, if the group would rather do this earlier. I have another commitment from 3-5, plus travel time.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
