(updated 12/7/2012 9 am)

This will be our first "Home Cooked" Asian Dining Meet-up. Spoke to a few member about doing this, so I decided to be the first and hopefully not the last to host this type of event.

The feature "Dish" of this event will be a Korean Dish, called Kimbap.

It looks like sushi but, a lot different. Main difference is that all the food is either cooked or pickled. And the seaweed is roasted in oil and salted.

You will have fun rolling your own Kimbap, so you can pick what you want to go in your roll. Sample will be giving before making the rolls, so you can try it before you put it into the roll. For you vegan or vegetarian, their will be plenty of item to choose from.

Items: Bulgogi, pan fried egg, Kim Chi, Picked yellow radish, bean sprouts, soy sprouts, spinach, and etc.

Menu:

Soup: Sea Weed Soup (vegan)

Appetizer: Vegetable Tempura (vegan), Kimbap (vegan items)

Main dishes: Braised beef short ribs (Galbi) (Korean), Ming’s Beef (Chinese), Almond Chicken (Chinese), Spicy hot chili pepper Chicken (fried)(Chinese), Salt and Pepper Tofu (vegan) ,and lots of vegetable dishes (vegan).

Side dishes: Kim Chi (not vegan), sprouts, and etc.

(These are some of my favorite dishes and hope you will enjoy them as well.)

When you come in please take the time to write 3 name tags, 1. for you, 2. for your cup, 3. for your plate.

This will be a party setting so no tables. Soup and Veg. Tempura, and area for Kimbap, 4 stations (so 4 people can make their own roll at once) will be ready by 7:15 pm. I will be cooking in the kitchen and as I am finish with a dish I will bang the pot and pan to signal that food it ready, vegetable dish will come out first, my nephew will be outside BBQ-ing the Galbi (give him a hand if you like). Korean side dishes will be laid out. Water, soda, and hot tea will also available. Other Asian snack and desserts will be on hand as well. So eat in any order you like ( I won't judge...lol )

There will be no charge for this dinner as I made it a fundraiser instead, 100% of donations will be given. The Fundraiser for (Charity named later, will take suggestions to give to what cause at party, please place all suggestions with the money collected, will post the total $$$ collected). Always love the movie "Pay it Forward". So I like to pay it forward to all of you. If you can pay it forward to others please do so, if you don't have any ideas in how to pay if forward you can give to the charity, I will be collecting. (If money is tight "Good wishes" are just as good)

(However if life is good to you please pay it forward in some way, Thank you)

As some of you all may know "typically Asian family", street shoes are not worn in the house (so no street shoes allowed). So I like you all to bring house slipper to the event. (flip flop are fine) Which got me thinking of a "PaJama Party" Theme. (no PJ's than sweats or shorts are fine) So wear your PJ's to the Dinner Party. The most "coolest, funniest, or just neatest, will get a VIP necklace,(will be first in line for food, kimbap station, and bathroom... lol) 3 will be given out (a Fork, Spoon, and Knife necklace) and crowned 1st Annual PJ's Dinning Party's "Dining Set".

(Yes, you can bring and change into your PJ's at the party)

Stay after dinner and play ping pong, foosball, or pool. Please bring any board games if you like to share and play. It is BYOB, please place all alcohol you bring to the pool house refrigerator. If weather is nice go out back and relax by the pool or in the pool house.

I know this is a last minute changes, so I like to thank everyone for participating in the theme and make this a fun party. So eat, drink, and have a great time!!!

******This will be UPDATED as I have time to do so.*********

The sauce it not quite right. It's missing something. Asked my parent. I will have to try it again. (Chicken with a sweet, sour and hot spicy coating.)

This is what I found at H-Mart this Sunday, and this is what you will be making.  :)

Thank you for the hospitality. The food was amazing. If you decide to do it again, sign me up as an assistant cook. I would love to see how some of that was done.

Thanks, everyone for coming to ADG's first "Home Cooked" Dining. I had a blast cooking for you all. Cannot say I had fun cleaning up. lol We raised $238 for Charity (thanks everyone) and I decide to give to the Houston Food Bank. But heard they don't take cash donations (I try them first), so if that is the case. Then I ask if anyone know of any local food charity. Let me know.

I will like start this round of “Pay It Forward” (3 times) like the movie, due by end of year. I don’t believe I am suppose to tell you but, I like for all you to get the Idea if you have not seen the movie. You do 3 good deeds for someone in need and ask them to do the same and spread 3 more good deeds. And so on, so on. So I am ask all you to do 3 thing for some else (not me), to spread good deeds to all.

    1. I am throwing a fundraiser party. I pledge $100 to Charity Jar (Name Later)

    2. Working at the Houston Food Bank at least once a month for 1 yr.

    3. I will have to wing the last one.

Since we are using the house for free, I would suggest everyone bring a small gift as a notion of thanks to the host/house owner...

    December 2, 2012

    • Ron Q

Thanks you Kate for the sweet gesture, but not needed. I see this as a challenge for me to see if I can pull off this dinner. Had done several small dinner parties, but this will be my first, for so many. I have invited around 30 to 40 guests. Now not all have confirmed their rsvp. And it seems like a lot of office and other parties are at the same night. So there may be more spaces for this group and will open up the waiting list on Thursday. I ask friend to confirm their rsvp by then. So I encourage you to add your name on to waiting list; if you are interested in coming. I recruited my parent to help. So hopefully this will work out well. Menu will change base on what vegetable I can get on Thursday and Friday. And give updates on menu then. So look out for changes. :)
