This group is for the paid members of the Adirondack Mountain Club- Niagara Frontier Chapter. Non paid members are welcome to join and attend events but will be strongly encouraged to join. Membership details are below.
The Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) is comprised of 28,000 members centered among 21 chapters in New York State. The Niagara Frontier Chapter (ADK-NFC) has 800 members and serves the counties of Niagara, Erie, Allegany, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus. The mission of the ADK is C.A.R.E.S.
ADK is committed to protecting the wild lands and waters our members use and cherish. ADK is the champion of nearly 5 million acres of publicly owned lands across New York State, including the Adirondack and Catskill forest preserves, state parks, state forests, and wildlife management areas.
ADK’s environmental advocacy program grew out of the need for responsible public policies to protect these lands and to ensure they remain accessible to the public for appropriate recreation. ADK also advocates for state funding for land acquisition and stewardship and has been on the front-line in the battle against acid rain, mercury pollution, global warming, and other threats to these resources.
Members of the ADK-NFC enjoy hiking, paddling, cross-country skiing, biking, swimming, sailing, and other human-powered outdoor activities. All ADK activities are lead by qualified volunteers with seasoned skills and experience.
The ADK provide trainings for its members, such as Wilderness First Aid, Leader Training, and Leave No Trace. Also, members provide outreach to schools and civic organizations.
ADK provides the opportunity to maintain trails, undertake land and waterway clean-ups, and participate in the overnight lodges owned and operated by the club.
