Join us once again for our Third Wednesday meeting at Howson Branch Library. This month we'll be discussing, and in a few cases (wherever possible with my laptop) demonstrating, a bunch of different options for free and/or open-source image editing and design software. There are the three most of us already know about- GIMP the Photoshop alternative, Inkscape for vector graphics, and Scribus to do desktop publishing. We'll also look at a few of the web-based photo editing services out there such as Piknik, Pixer, Phoenix and Photoshop.com (they all start with 'P'?), as well as Wix.com, which lets you build simple Flash sites without buying or using Flash itself. And if anyone wants to get into a traditional office suite done as SaaS (Software as a Service), there's Zoho (we won't mention the big one that starts with 'G').
This meeting will follow (what's supposed to be) our usual format: job club starts at 6:30 and goes for about 30-40 minutes, then 15-20 minutes of mingling and networking, and then the actual discussion/demonstration/whathaveyou will begin around 7:15-7:30.
See you all then!
