Motion Graphics/Film/Video: Tour at ChannelAustin studio

Fletch Brendan G.
Group Organizer

This Wednesday, for those of you interested in motion graphics and/or video production/editing, ATXDM will meet at the studios of ChannelAustin, the city's own public access channel and production facility. One of the engineers has offered to do a tour of their facility for us, which underwent a million-dollar upgrade of all their equipment a little over a year ago. They are now an all-Mac-based facility with state of the art computers and Final Cut software, in addition to completely renovated studios for video shoots.

ChannelAustin is a very affordable way to get access to the equipment and facilities that burgeoning or cash-strapped producers and filmmakers need in Austin. They have a low annual fee to get a Producer's ID, and then the classes they offer to get certified on their equipment are also very affordable. When a Producer has completed certain classes that are required, they are then able to use the equipment and facilities free of charge, even if what they're working on isn't primarily intended for broadcast on their channel. This includes being able to check out cameras, lighting equipment, and even iMac editing stations to do location shoots.

Come check out this great resource we have in our own backyard. Tour starts at 7pm. Please remember to RSVP so I can give the station a good count in advance.
