You don't need to know (or own) the system to play. It's new, we're all learning.
You see nailed to the side of the tavern: "Looking for 5 Adventuresome young folk for a expedition delving into an ancient ruin for historical artifacts to finance further expeditions "
Torchbearer is the latest Luke Crane RPG (Burning Wheel, Mouse Guard, Burning Empires). It is intended to make a old school D&D that feels very dangerous (mostly from the spelunking part, but also from what you meet there). It is NOT a simple rules set a la Dungeon world, but it looks like a blast all the same.
Planning on going all Burglar/Warrior/Adventurer unless someone comes ready for the magic/faith/elf stuff. Will have pre-made characters for people who show up after 11:30.
