Retro/Classic D&D Campaign

Had a bit of nostalgia about playing in old school D&D, so I thought, hey, why don't I try to run a campaign based on the Basic and Expert version?

The idea here will be an ongoing game, allowing characters to level and such.

Plot: Gather your adventurous friends, for something is dark is in the wind. The free city of Salhantar has been at peace for thirty years, but now a darkness is returning to the land. Is it possible the evil thought destroyed has returned? Play as the apprentices and or descendants of the mighty heroes whom once set the land free from oppression. Will your legend out grow that of your mentors?

Very easy to learn and we were able to get the game started quit quickly. David did an OUTSTANDING job DMing the game session and understood the rules very well. We could have used a few more players but I think we did well for just a cleric and a fighter type. Background and the story line was well thought out. The game was fun, interesting, and challenging. The ruined Temple of Hades and the evil followers that dwell there will eventually be cleaned out..... once we can get a few more brave adventurers to join up for next time.

So, who is actually attending this one? I can only see that Todd is. If there is only one player, I will hold off on starting this game until the next one on 12/14. However, if we have two or three players, I will keep this one going.

I originally was going to attend, but afterwords I remembered I had a 2:30 commitment on the other side of Atlanta so would either be very late or leave very early.

Is there a certain person I should ask for? it starts at 12pm right? do I need to bring pen, paper, or dice?

I have character sheets ready to go. Most people like to have their own dice, but I have enough for multiple people to use.

There is a back room, where we will be setting up. And yes, noon

Hey Victor. I think I'll be playing a Cleric; also known as the "first aid station" or the true destroyer of the undead. Don't worry too much about D&D game mechanics or complexity with the game. It will be very basic and easy. Most of us long term D&D players started out learning with the original boxed set back in our early teenage days.
    See ya at the game.

Ok, So how does this work exactly? You just show up?

    November 27, 2013

    • David L.

That is it. You show up, we make characters, and go. Since it is the old school version it takes very little time to make a character, so it should be easy enough to play shortly after we start.

Great. I will be scheduling this one until I find several people whom can make it. I expect the holidays to also jumble it some

This is the old school original Basic D&D, like 1980's version. I played a session of it recently and suddenly thought it might be fun to see what sort of interesting game I could come up with now that I am not a 10 yr old. lol
