Dungeon World

Combining high-action dungeon crawling with cutting-edge rules, Dungeon World is a roleplaying game of fantasy adventure. You and your friends will explore a land of magic and danger in the roles of adventurers searching for fame, gold, and glory.

Dungeon World’s rules are easy to learn and always drive the action forward in unexpected ways.  A missed roll is never a dead end—failure introduces new complexities and complications.  Life as an adventurer is hard and dangerous but it’s never boring! No knowledge of the system is required and it's ideal for newcomers.

This is the first of my new tuesday night weekly sessions.

Because of the time slot and frequency of the games, these sessions won't be long, typically wrapping up around 9PM, but will be intense and great for smaller groups.

Depending on interests and other schedules, this might be a weekly or bi-weekly campaign. If it's bi-weekly, then I'll alternate with another game, same deal. See how it goes.

Bring 2D6, D4,D8,D10 and D12.

Characters are generated in the group setting together. Everything comes from a picklist.

There is only one of each class in play at one time. I'll be bringing the following...and keep in mind that these might not work the same way as their D&D equivalents : Barbarian,Bard,Cleric,Druid,Fighter,Paladin,Ranger,Wizard,Thief,Shaman.

In the first session,we'll discuss the characters and the rules, then create characters and some history, then jump into a tense situation. The "world" isn't in place in the first session...I create it out of what I hear in this one and build it going forward.

Had a lot of fun, smooth combat, quick combat and very much a roleplay game.

I want to try this one at least once, it's the opposite tuesday to my elder scrolls pathfinder game so it's usually a good night for me anyway. Do you play with mini's or any tiles or any thing like that? Just wondering.

Good questions! Bring 2D6 (that's the main dice mechanic in the game) and D4,D8,D10,D12 for damage.

No pregens. Characters are created in the session as a group..it's easy, quick and fun.
Everything about your character, from stats to your name, are chosen from a picklist on the character sheet itself. Stats are chosen, not rolled.
The players will choose "bonds", the history you have with each other, again from the sheets.

Some other things that make Dungeon World a little different:
The DM doesn't roll any dice, it's always the players.

There is only ever one of each class in play...they're seen as archetypes in the game. So you wouldn't be "a paladin", you are THE paladin.

Combat doesn't have turns or initiative,it's handled like any other activity. The GM doesn't bring a prepared setting or story to the first session, just a tense situation to get things going. I'll watch what you do and ask lots of questions. I'll build the world from what I hear.
It'll make more sense in play!

IIRC its main mechanic is d6 (2d6) but there rolls for all the others with d4, d8 etc. etc.

What kind of dice do we need?

Will you provide pre-gens or do we need to make PCs at the first session?
