Old School Mini-Megadungeon OpenTable Campaign

Join us for the next session of an old-school expedition to assault and explore a mini mega-dungeon in an ongoing open-table campaign!

Beginners and those curious about old-school games welcome!

You do not need a copy of the books to play!

What happened in the previous sessions? Check it out here: Official" Campaign Blog

Attention Players: If you don't already have a character in this campaign or want to play a different character, you can roll one (or better, three) at home, or show up around 6:30 PM (30 mins prior to game) and we'll roll up your character(s). The character creation process takes about 20 minutes the first time.

If you can't make it early, no worries, I'll have pre-gens ready to go!

*** If you can't make it by 7 PM, just show up when you can. We'll get your character to the party one way or another! ***

What's an open table? Whoever shows up that week plays. Drop in and drop out at your heart's desire.

Rules: We're playing 1981's Dungeons & Dragons Basic Rulebook ed. Tom Moldvay  and  Dungeons & Dragons Expert Rulebook eds. David Cook and Steve Marsh. For those not wishing to buy the PDF or track down a copy, Labyrinth Lord is free and is the same more or less.

Documents to Check Out:

•  Some Things of Note (if you've played more recent editions of D&D, this will explain some differences)

• House rules These are my personal house rules and do apply during our sessions. The d30 rule is probably the most important! This person made an awesome list of equipment to make shopping easier.

The party found the lost standard of the last garrison of Trelleborg. To claim the reward, the standard needs to be delivered to Hedeby, which lies 10 days by land, to the south. As I noted here,, you can typically arrange travel down river by logging barge, (which would shave it down to 5-7 days depending on weather and current) but you really can't get away from the 10 days travel by land to return. Broadly speaking, we can approach this in two ways: hand wave or hex crawl. The former means we just advance the time line, you get your reward and that's that. The trip is assumed to be uneventful. With the hex crawl, the trip might be uneventful, or you might encounter things trying to eat you, rob you, murder you, etc. But you might find treasure ladden ruins or monster lairs, too, for loot beyond the reward.

1000XP to each party member who was there when it was found. I think the cash was 3000sp. I don't have my notes handy though. I'll check after work.

Hi all, finally got around to posting a summary of the session: For those who were part of the group that found the standard, you were assumed to have taken a different route to get to the city. That way, you too are immortalized and can reap the benefits/complications that fame will bring.

I'm not sure when the next session will be. I had hoped to get one in before DragonCon. The session will start in Hedeby. Anyone free for Friday August 15? I know it's last minute but I've got an open night.

Hey, probably going to be running late today, but I'll be there. I know that's not a problem, I just wanted to send word.
