DEFINITION OF BRAVE a town hall by, for and about long-term HIV survivors

If you tested HIV-positive during those first two decades of AIDS, you are...

WEDNESDAY • SEPTEMBER 18, 2013 • 7 to 9 PM

With courage and compassion we survived the darkest days of the plague. Without access to effective treatments, we were forced to rely on our selves and each other. As individuals and a community, we exhibited strength we didn’t know we had. Now let’s all come together again to face the conundrums of midlife and aging to envision our future. This free grassroots forum is the first Bay Area forum by, for, and about survivors. We have valuable lessons to teach our community and the world about living and survival—it’s time to embrace our role as elders, teachers and leaders.

There are two issues I run up against due to a lack of widely publicized information about certain aspects of HIV/AIDS.
#1) HIV/AIDS was first documented in the mysterious death of in 1969, a youth who probably picked it up 9-11 yrs earlier based upon current prognosis for persons not under any anti-viral regimen
#2) 3% of Caucasians possess genes which make them immune to HIV and many other diseases including Plague, Pox, etc, if they inherited the gene from both parents, or then, resistant, if they like me only inherited the one gene from one parent.

I live in Santa Rosa, and am curious about Parking at the LGBT Center. I have only been in the SF area for 5 months, and have only been to the pride festival, and the VA Hospital. I used the Larkspur Ferry from The North Bay for Pride, and the VA has Parking. I know how to get around SF well, but parking always seems to be an issue.

Bill there is some parking around the Center. Market St parking it limited but Waller St behind the center and across Market on Valencia there is usually parking. There is a little hidden corner near the U-Haul store with a few spots too. It on McCoppin Street. Also Laguna is a block away and there is often parking on there. The short answer is come early enough to drive around the area, you'll find a spot. I always do. I hope we'll see you there. Cheers,

I was informed of my HIV status in October of 1985 when our prognosis at the time was presumed to be 6 to 18 months. I made the mistake of telling all of my hundred odd friends and many of my thousand odd acquaintances, the vast majority of whom promptly shunned me in the harshest terms, only to watch the same people drop dead like flies two decades ago. I've been profoundly gratified to reconnect with two people I've always loved dearly after 21 and 28 years respectively within just the last month. My problems have nothing to do with depression, substance-abuse or suicide, but with housing, vocation, and socialization. I neither need nor want your pity, only a way forward.

I don't mean to be a pig, but any refreshments served?
Otherwise I might have to eat between work and the meeting
