11:30 Meet at Vegetarische Slager
12:00 Head to Baklust for lunch
1:00-7:00 Explore town, visit museums/parks/etc
7:00 Dinner at Hagedis
One of my friends suggested this restaurant: http://www.restauranthagedis.nl/index.php and they have a vegan fondue! Check out their menu, it looks fantastic!
I suggest we make a Den Haag daytrip out of this. We can head into town in the morning, visit the vegetarian "butcher" (http://www.devegetarischeslager.nl/ ), eat lunch at Baklust (http://baklust.nl/) see a few museums or something, and go to the Hagedis for dinner and drinks that evening. Who is in?
I'm thinking sometime in February. What weekends in February will you be out of town?
maaaaaybe for the 18th/19th, but I haven't got firm dates down yet. other weekends are almost certainly out though. don't plan around me though :)
Okay, I set for saturday February 18th. Does anyone know where at the station would be a good meetup place?
excellent. this was when I was going to suggest as the most likely for me :) as for meeting: I think many would be coming from Amsterdam(ish), so should we meet up here, and head down? With the option to meet at Den Haag Centraal?
excuse my ignorance, so is this a train there and train back the same day type plan?
maybe it would be easy to just pick a time to meet at the "butcher" so everyone can take the train convienient for them and I would love to go to The Mauritshuis Museum, if any one is interested, it is going to close for 2 years
I think meeting at the Vegetarische Slager is a good idea. What does everyone else think? I'm also down to go to the Mauritshuis again, especially if it will be closing for a few years. I would also really like to visit the Escher museum if anyone is interested in going there. Madurodam (the mini netherlands attraction) and the panorama are also cool, but I've been there myself enough times. If people are interested in doing different things, we can always split up and regroup for dinner.
On the Friday before (the 17th), I will call the Hagedis to make our reservation for dinner, so please update your RSVPs before then so I can give them a correct count.
I suggest everyone look into what you are interested in doing while in Den Haag in advance, then we can talk it over during lunch and split up into groups depending on where people want to go visit.
Just in case there's any confusion on this point, I wanted to point out that the Vegetarische Slager is a (quite small) grocery store, not a restaurant. There are no tables or chairs, and much of what they sell is frozen. Not that it's not worth a visit, mind you. :) Their juices (including quince and rhubarb) are outstanding.
For lunch, I would suggest Baklust, (http://baklust.nl/
) which has delicious vegetarian and vegan fare, including some of the best desserts in town.
Baklust is absolutely amazing. I'd love to have lunch there. Would anyone be interested in joining me for a trip to the Gemeentemuseum? (Check www.gemeentemuseum.nl for more info.)
I would love to meet at Baklust for lunch and visit the Vegetarish Slager as well. What time should we meet for lunch and what time is dinner? And good idea to split up into groups to visit the sites.
I knew they were more of a grocery store, but I thought they made lunch broodjes like a lot of real dutch butchers do. However, if they don't have any seats, maybe it is better to meet there at 11 or 11:30, and then go get lunch elsewhere afterwards?

Hello Erin, please include me for the Hagedis but I'm not sure I can be there from the start cos I have a whole load of Saturday chores to do in the morning, but I will try and get there for baklust!
Hi, You can count on me as well. It's gonna be my first vegan restaurant experience and finally I can use my museum card:) See you there!
I will be there! unfortunately the Tweede Kamer will be closed on saturdays as will the vredespaleis, both are well worth a visit
I made a reservation for 15 for Hagedis (there is always a last minute cancel or two, and I'm sure one or two off won't be a problem for the restaurant so feel free to come if you haven't RSVP'd by now). See everyone tomorrow at de vegetarische slager. If you just want to come to lunch or dinner, then just meet us at Baklust at 12/12:15 or at Hagedis at 7:00!
Incidentally this sounds interesting... http://www.stroom.nl/activiteiten/tentoonstelling.php?t_i...![]()

Not sure about dinner, but definitely doing the lunch and museum thing! See everyone at the Slager.
I like the Stroom exhibition, as well.
Yeah the stroom thing is this: 'Food Forward' presents scenarios for the future of our food based on the work of artists and designers. The starting point is the video ?The Hunt' by Christian Jankowski (DE) that humorously puts the estrangement between city dwellers and food on edge. John O'Shea (UK) pushes the limits of the law in his attempts to achieve a more humane meat production and meat consumption scheme. Michiko Nitta and Michael Burton (UK) will present two scenarios from their larger
I'll go straight to baklust and skip de vegetarische slager
Ok my shower broke this morning so running really late. Have to get it fixed. I will just come into de Haag when I am ready, definitely see you at Hagedis but maybe not before.
I won't make it either at 11.30, but I'll def. be there for dinner. That exhibition sounds interesting.
Running majorly late. Will have to miss the butcher. At this point looking at a 12:45ish arrival. If we don't run into anyone, I'll just update the group. I am taking my camera along so it should be a good trip nonetheless.
Ok all shower fixed and chores done! Coming bt train shortly and will head over to the Stroon, reckon I will get there around 2:30 so if anyone is picking this up and will be there too my mob is 0616983415, or if you know me then just look out for me!
Just got off work. I'm meeting up with Josh and I'll see you all for dinner!
oooher, the fondue is totally awesome! I'd love to get back to this place :) when we've got a date sorted, I'll let you know (I'm abroad on and off for the next couple of months)
