Join my Hub On Wheels team!

There are two Meetup teams doing the 9th annual Hub On Wheels event on Sunday, September 22nd. Join my team, called "Greater Boston Meetup 50 Mile," if you would like to do the 50 mile ride. Join the other team ("Greater Boston Bicycle Meetup") if you would like to do the 30 mile route. There is a $45 registration fee, which raises to $50 after September 10th and $55 for day-of registration. SIGNING UP FOR THE MEETUP DOES NOT REGISTER YOU FOR THE RIDE. This is one of the biggest bicycling events in Boston. All of Storrow Drive is closed to motor vehicles, and the entire route is protected and lined with volunteers. The purpose of the event is to promote safe and fun bicycling for everyone on Boston streets.

Weather could have been much worse! Started with only a drizzle and there was brilliant sunshine by the end.

What a great day! The rain dried up within the first few miles, and by the end it was bright and sunny. The roads were fine, with only a few clear shallow puddles, and the people were amazing--the very best of the Boston cycling community. This was such a fun ride, and I discovered a number of roads and paths that I've never been on before. Anybody who decided to stay home because they were afraid of getting a little wet sure missed out!

I'm sorry I did not meet up with you all at the start. I was there, but with the rain was much later than expected and it was time to get in line to start at that time. I still did the ride and had a great time. I hope you did too!

Shift to we are meeting by the Starbucks on the other side of the square. I'll have a yellow cover on my helmet. My bike is a root beer colored trek 520 touring bike with a rear rack on it.

Just read through my info more carefully. Info says ride starts at 8, be there by 0715, you can park in the gov't center garage for $5 but will have to get your bikes off the roof racks first, if you use them. They say there will be a place by the garage to take the bikes off roof racks, but I don't know how much of crowded scene that will be. I can fit both Steve's and my bikes in my car upright if we take the front wheels off so no hassle there. I suggest meeting at[masked] in the general area of under the overhang of the JFK Building hi rise on the side toward city hall, for want of a better place. We can use cells for final coordination. What do you guys think? I didn't realize this would be such an early start! There may be rain and overcast, bummer. I;m using my touring bike since I can carry stuff on it. I'm doing the ride with 3 other friends as well..

I would like to do the shorter ride. How do I register for the ride?

Hi, this sounds like fun. However, I cannot find anything about the route? Are there a lot of climbs involved in the route?
Also, how fast are you planning on going?
    Thanks, Christian
