Acquisition Panel

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a real treat for you: an acquisition panel with diverse experience and deep understanding of the UA game.

Your panelists are:

This pane will be looking to answer the questions that a lot of people have in the industry, especially small studios or CEOs tacking on UA to their long list of responsibilities. Some samples of the questions I’ll be asking are:

  • How do you break through the “fog of war” quickly and cheaply when starting out in UA?
  • How do you manage acquisition channels across portfolios of games?
  • What are the best practices for getting noticed by the Featured teams for each app store, beyond “make a great game”?
  • Has any non-paid acquisition channel besides ranking / app store feature ever driven significant traffic for you, or is this a pay-to-win only game?
  • And more

Panelists
Eyal Grundstein, Head of Mobile Marketing @ GSN
Eyal is a seasoned product and business leader. Following his NYU Stern MBA, Eyal joined Yahoo Search and later Microsoft Bing, leading product efforts for high-profile search efforts like Yahoo Search distribution and Bing Facebook Likes integration.

In 2011, Eyal moved into the mobile advertising and gaming ecosystem. At TinyCo, a leading mobile game developer, Eyal led its user acquisition efforts and growth strategy focusing on data-driven decisions and ROI. At his current role in GSN Games, Eyal heads up mobile marketing efforts focused growth, retention and monetization of the social casino products.



David Diaz, Sr. Director of Developer Relations @ SponsorPay
David Diaz is Senior Director of Developer Relations at SponsorPay, the world’s leading value-exchange advertising platform. He is responsible for all North American publishing partners as well as those in New Zealand and Australia.

Most recently, David worked as a Marketing and Business Development Manager at social game developer Metamoki, Inc., where he oversaw user acquisition and led the PR, marketing and business development initiatives for all of Metamoki’s products. Previously, David was Manager of Communications at mobile game publisher, Booyah and started his career as a Writer at TechCrunch.

David is a graduate from Stanford University where he earned degrees in political science and communication. He is based in San Francisco.



James Peng, User Acquisition & Monetization @ Storm8 / TeamLava
James Peng manages user acquisition and monetization for Storm8's complete portfolio of 40+ titles. Storm8 is a leading mobile social gaming network and developer with more than 10 million daily active users and 500 million downloads across 300 million devices worldwide. Prior to joining Storm8, James worked at H.I.G. Capital, a $9.0 billion private equity fund, where he evaluated, structured, and executed leveraged buyouts in partnership with management teams. Prior to that, he worked as an investment banker for Lazard, where he advised on various M&A and restructuring deals.

Nicole Yang, Business Development @ Grow Mobile

Nicole does Business Development at Grow Mobile, a new mobile marketing and ROI data platform company. Grow Mobile is building technology for mobile ad buying across a large number of ad networks with transparent ROI analytics reporting for better optimization and ad budget scale. Prior to Grow Mobile, Nicole ran User Acquisition at Quark Games (formerly PlayMesh), a mobile game company focused on hardcore, competitive games.

[Moderator] Christine Lee, Director of Business Development North America @ Chartboost

Christine Lee manages the North America Business Development team at Chartboost - a technology platform that helps game developers build a mobile business. Chartboost has the first and only Direct Deals Marketplace that enables game developers to connect and negotiate deals with each other with full transparency. In her current role, Christine oversees North America publisher relations, strategic partnerships and advertiser relationships. Previously she managed entertainment and games at AdMob and continued to work with both console and mobile game developers once the company was acquired by Google.

    The panel and meetup were excellent: this was my first meetup and I can't imagine it going any better than it did.
