Responsive Design, CCS3 HTML5 and Mobile

Guest speaker Donald Gillard from Triggerfish Design Group will discuss Responsive Design.

Responsive Design is an up-n-coming trend in web design. That's due to the growing number of users viewing web content via a mobile device. To a lesser degree, those viewing it on large screens.

Responsive Design is no simple matter given the huge number of devices nowadays, from PCs, iPads, iPhones, Laptops, Notebooks to home TVs with Cinema format aspect ratios. Simply consider those flavours within the Android group that includes Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, DELL and whomever else. (It's called Ice Cream Sandwich for a reason.) And don't forget Blackberries, although forgetting them is easier and easier. Plus, it's even more complex with the new Retina displays that offer 2x the resolution.

Don will show the necessary and painstaking steps used to build a Responsive Site using a blend of HTML5, CSS3 and maybe jQuery. In addition, he will show how to achieve Responsive Design on static sites as well as those generated by CMS systems, such as Wordpress.

So come and get a solid start in the next phenomenon in Web design.

I was warned that the Big 'O' is coming to town tomorrow. That's Oprah. *I had booked a good day with no Canucks game.*
So all restaurants are gonna be busy until a bit past 7, when people trot off to see the show. My apologies. See you tomorrow.

The Wine room is maxed at 20. I will *try* to get a larger room at the Kingston. If you decide not to come, please change your RSVP.

Ive seen a couple of responsive sites but few come close to Don's meticulous hand-coded ones. They morph in normal browsers and snap at the designated iPad/iPhone sizes and some Android sizes.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
