Unholy Rollers - Arkansas River Trail Bike Ride

And you thought Hell's Angels were trouble! Join us for a fun and leisurely ride along the Arkansas River Trail. We'll meet up at River Trail Station at 11:00am.  Plenty of free parking by the rental shop, or in the Verizon Arena South parking lot. We'll saddle up and ride counterclockwise up the North Little Rock side, cross the Big Dam Bridge, head up river to the Two Rivers Park Bridge, then back towards downtown where we'll chain our bikes outside the Flying Saucer (smoke-free and kid-friendly) and replace the calories we just burned with lunch and a couple of pints of the Devil's brew. How sinful! Then cross the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge back to the start point.

Even for those who seldom ride, this is an easy, level, paved trail, with plenty of rest stops, restrooms, and drinking fountains along the way.  It's a great activity for the kids.  We'll ride as slow as we need to for any kids or novices.

Fike's Bikes at River Trail Station offers half-day rentals (4 hours) which is ample time to complete the ride and lunch. Call ahead to reserve a bike if you intend to rent, and show up a little early to get your rental fitted, adjusted, and tested out before we head off.

Check back here the day before and morning of the ride in case of weather cancellation. Weather's fine! See you there!

I don't have a bike. Are there usually some available to rent? If so, how much? Also, can I use my roller derby helmet, or will they provide me with one at the bike rental place? :-)

I can recommend Fike's. We rented a bicycle built for two last time. I consider them a bargain. Get a skinny tire bike unless you have lots of endurance. They do offer helmets.

In fact, we should find out if he's a freethinker. He sells beer - always a good sign.

I will try to go. Depends on the timing of another obligation.
