Little Rock Pride Parade

Don your pirate regalia and join the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers as we support our LGBT friends in celebrating pride in our diversity. Whether you're gay, straight, or somewhere in the middle, it's important to stand up to bigotry and religious intolerance wherever possible.

We'll meet up at 1:00pm to get officially checked in. All participants will need to be identified and given a sticker to march, then the parade officially starts at 2pm. Wear your FSM pirate costume if you have one, your Reason in The Rock T-shirt, or appropriately irreverent clothing of your choice . We'll walk behind a vehicle displaying our ASF banners and hand out Reason in The Rock flyers ans other trinkets. See the parade route.

All parade participants will receive a flyer listing the events that will be taking place at LGBT-friendly bars the evening of the parade and will be encouraged to attend the Main Street Food Truck Festival immediately following the parade.

The official reception/after party, "Unified Pride Night", will begin at 5:00 pm at ReCreation Studios at 608 Main Street following the Food Truck Festival. Event entry is $5. Light hors oeuvres and wine will be served at the reception. ReCreation Studios has secured the parking lot next to their business for the afterparty and will be providing performances by several DJ's as well as cirque performances including hoop dancing, aerial silks, and other flow arts.

The mission of Central Arkansas Pride is to raise awareness of diversity in the community and, through celebration and education, recognize the positive contributions of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community in Arkansas, teach tolerance and acceptance, eliminate prejudice and bias both internally and externally, and honor our sexuality, our culture, our families, our accomplishments, our individuality, and our ongoing struggle for equal rights.

That was fun! Lots of people that I had never seen before recognized our banner and yelled out, "Hey! Freethinkers!". So, at least we're known. Also fun to march behind the Presbyterians.

I don't think I'll make it after all. I'm feeling really tired and like I'm coming down with a cold. I so can't afford to get sick right now, especially if I'm going to be around my immune-compromised sister in a few days. So it looks like just rest and zinc lozenges are in the forecast for me today. Please take photos and videos, you guys!

Does anyone want to meet somewhere and carpool? I was just looking at the page for the Main Street Food Festival, which is also going on down there, and it looks like it's going to be huge! So I'm afraid parking is not going to be easy.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
