Cosmos Watch Party

  • Apr 13, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Each Sunday night you can enjoy episodes of Neil deGrasse Tyson's "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" with your fellow freethinkers. The show airs from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, but feel free to come early to mingle and chat, and bring along your favorite potluck snacks and beverages to share. Tonight Dave hosts with his new 70" HDTV with surround sound.

Tonight's Episode: "Deeper, Deeper, Deeper Still" - Science casts its Cloak of Visibility over everything, including Neil, himself, to see him as a man composed of his constituent atoms. The Ship of the Imagination takes us on an epic voyage to the bottom of a dewdrop to discover the exotic life forms and violent conflict that's unfolding there. We return to the surface to encounter life's ingenious strategies for sending its ancient message into the future.

About the show: "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" will invent new modes of scientific storytelling to reveal the grandeur of the universe and re-invent celebrated elements of the original series, including the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination. Uniting skepticism and wonder, and weaving rigorous science with visual, emotional, and spiritual elements, it will be a transcendent experience – a vision of the cosmos on the grandest scale we know.

Okay, that's a crazy storm, I don't think it's safe for me to drive up there. I regret that I'll miss watching that show with you guys and John's talk/the fun discussion with y'all afterwards! I will go next week if I'm in town (a family emergency is pulling me out of town this week and I'm not 100% sure what day I'll be back)
