THE END!
(of your life, or life itself)
This month is our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY EDITION, featuring our most popular event, the Skeptics Trivia Bowl! A prize will go to the victor after a gauntlet of skeptical and scientific questions that may or may not kill you.
Join us for a fun evening as we explore Strange Beliefs, Amusing Deceptions, Dangerous Delusions, and more! This is a trivia and discussion night, where we'll present topics open to critical inquiry and enjoy the conversation.
Pseudoscience, Alternative Medicine, Modern Mythbusting, Frauds, Hoaxes, Quacks, and Conspiracies are all popular subjects.
Our host, Ben Bell, leads us off with an interesting discussion and background information. Then we open up the floor to comments and, yes, skepticism!
Not sure what skepticism even is?
Watch this video by Skeptic Magazine's Michael Shermer,
Or Brian Dunning's Skeptoid podcast,
Or the Skeptic's Dictionary for a huge selection of topics.
This month we'll meet at Cregeen's Irish Pub in North Little Rock. It's smoke-free and kid-friendly. They have great food, a huge selection of draft beers, and a $3 pint special every night! We'll meet in the private room in the back of the pub. We hope to see you there!
I know, right? We really put our thinking caps on for that one. But seriously, the prize is awesome and very fitting to our "End of Times" theme. This is going to be fun.
And FYI the trivia is going to be easier this time. Your feedback was heard! :)
This has always got to be my favorite night of the month! Idea for consideration. Myths around the "Best Ways to Die." We've all had those conversations about "If you keep doing that you're going to die." What are the actual statistics behind what we like to do and how likely it is to kill us? Examples I defend often are: Marathon Running, Sex, Alcohol, Airline Travel, Wet hair on a cold day...What are some others that could be interesting?
