Nonbelievers may not have more numbers than believers, but we do tend to have more diplomas.
Proving it this month are Martin Watts and Lisa Brents, two of our very own members who have worked hard to be called "Doctor" and are still working hard at it.
Martin is currently a med student who recently has worked in a neuroscience lab with a focus on visceral pain. His work was on the role of the sympathetic nervous system and an esoteric ion channel in pain associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
Lisa's doctoral thesis, which she defended in January, focused on synthetic cannabinoids, like those found in K2 or Spice herbal incense products. She will tell us about the basic biology of cannabinoids and how and why they have medicinal effects.
Bring yourselves, snacks if you have some you'd like to share, and your questions.
For a lively discussion of current events, AR Freethinker's group news and business, join us at the downtown Little Rock library. Parking is free and plentiful on Sundays.
We meet on the first floor in the East meeting room in the back of the Library. We usually adjourn at about 4:30pm and walk over to the Flying Saucer for dinner, drinks and more fun times.
