A three day trip exploring selected hand picked visitor attractions and natural beauty spots in the stunning and majestic region of Southern Scotland encompassing the counties of Dumfries and Galloway ; Lanarkshire and the Borders. A true mixture of walking, history and culture.

We will meet outside High Barnet Tube station on the Northern line at 4.30pm with a view to setting off at 5.00pm. Travel will be in a minivan -specification depending on numbers.

Our destination on Friday night will be a lodge just outside the town of Dumfries ; this will be our base for the 3 nights. Arrival time: approximately 12.00 am.

We will return home on Monday (via the Lake District-weather dependent - see below for details) arriving back at High Barnet Tube station at approximately 9.00 pm.

Itinerary for the trip - during each day there will led excursions as follows ( subject to variation acording to weather conditions) -

Saturday - visit to World Heritage site, New Lanark - extensive historical Mill town; riverside walkway to view the majestic Falls of Clyde and possible sightings of Falcons; optional extended circular riverside walk approx 3 hours)

Saturday afternoon - visit to Buddhist Monastery, Temple and Tea room

Saturday evening - drive to Dumfries Town for well deserved Indian meal (not included in the price) before a well deserved night's sleep.

Sunday - Visit to Galloway Forest Park, Dumfries and Galloway - walking along forest trails and driving through the Red Deer Range and a visit to the wild Goat Park; opportunity to have a picnic in the woods.

Sunday evening - Dinner in either Moffatt town or Dumfries.(not included in the price)

Monday - drive to Moffat town - shops ; excursion to the Grey Mare's Tail - spectacular Waterfall set in stunning Mountain scenery ; drive on to St Mary's Loch ; late lunch at the Glen Cafe overlooking the Loch.

Monday afternoon /evening - return home to High Barnet tube station via the Lake District taking in Lake Windermere and Ullswater and Kirkstone pass and, time permitting, a drink at the dramatic setting of Kirkstone Pass Inn.

Total price for the trip ( 3 nights staying in single rooms ) including all entrance fares (New Lanark,transport hire, insurance and fuel - £235.00.

Price excludes all meals/food - breakfast is available to purchase at the Hotel
