I have taken classes at Montgomery College in the spring and fall of 2007 so I would say that's almost a year.
I saw some people talking with their hands when I was very young and I thought that was the coolest thing. I wanted to do that to, so after I finished high school and started to work I looked for schools that could teach me sign language. Then I became interested in interpreting for my religious organization. We have a congregation that's all deaf and I want to be able to talk to them as well as interpret for them at our big conventions.
My name is Nece and I have been taking ASL for about a year . I love the language and want to learn more. I think the meet ups are great, you can larn so much from them, and I hope to one day be fluent in ASL.
It was nice however I would have liked it better if there was some sort of organization. When I got there I didn't know what to do, I didn't know anyone there so what was I do to. I saw people there just siging to each other, no one said hello so I felt like an outcast. Everyone seemed to know each other ...I sat down next to someone and ask what do we do and they said just start talking/signing to someone. I wished there could have been some type of introduction.
