About the Speakers & Topic
J. Gwen Kennedy, Ph. D., well-known consultant and educator on leadership, presents an update on leadership …. training … and personal growth. She will discuss different types of leadership training and development, their benefits, and fit for purpose. When she concludes, you should have fresh ideas on selecting a program that fits your needs as well as the requiremens of your staff.
With colleagues, Gwen recently developed two courses for UAA. The classes are: 1) Change Leadership and Facilitation and 2) Performance Management and Coaching. These are targeted to become part of an MBA with emphasis in Leadership. Research for these endeavors has Gwen up-to-date with current trends, and this knowledge is coupled with her extensive personal experience.
Gwen has been a consultant in staff and organization development since 1986. As part of her practice she has designed and provided customized supervisory and leadership training programs for private industry and government organizations. In 2007 she brought her mentors to Alaska to conduct the first offering of the Alaska Triple Impact Leadership Program to address a void in locally-offered, public leadership development programs. Three years ago she joined three other colleagues and UAA faculty to develop an emphasis in leadership for their MBA program. With two of these colleagues, she recently developed two classes are: 1) Change Leadership and Facilitation and 2) Performance Management and Coaching. The first she is piloting this spring semester. Research for these endeavors has Gwen up-to-date with current trends, and this knowledge is coupled with her extensive personal experience.

Gwen has presented to ASTD Alaska on several earlier occasions and is well-respected for the insights she provides.
