Learning New Tricks: Transforming Traditional Training using Today's Technology
Cheryl Westley presents her case study
Working at a distance with team members in Seattle, Cheryl used the learning platform Moodle to convert a traditional lecture on diabetes into a 4 week online class for vocational rehabilitation counselors. She will talk about steps in course development and design, show the class outline on Moodle, and talk about the experience of facilitating the actual course. Presentation will include lessons learned and actual participant comments.
Cheryl's professional life has focused on teaching and learning since graduation from college. She taught in both public and private schools before moving into adult training and development. She was employed by the State of Alaska as a Training Specialist in various departments including Education, Labor and Workforce Development, Fish & Game, Administration, and Military and Veteran's Affairs. In 2005 she received her Masters of Education in Adult Education from UAA.
Since 2008, she has been a self-employed contractor providing online training to vocational rehabilitation professionals throughout the US. She continues to explore "new tricks" to provide the basic ingredients for quality learning and professional development.
