Retro - Modern Vespa Shoot

Vespas are photo eye candy to photographers and have been for some time. The Italian styling has become an icon to photography and photographers world-wide. Come enjoy an Eric Ellis photo seminar on shooting on-location, then whip your own camera out (any skill level welcome) and shoot Retro-clad models on classic Vespas, on location in Atlanta's coolest Vespa dealer. 2-5pm

We are going to have paid models in retro-fashion and the backdrops of Motoretta Atlanta.  Photographers will be limited to 20. We have indoor and outdoor locations so weather shouldn't be an issue. Every level of photographer is welcome to come out and use their own camera on some real photo icons, we hope to see you there!

I confess. I tend to turn every shoot into a portrait session!

I am an amateur and this was my first time ever doing a photo shoot (and I was also using a new camera). Despite my apprehension of working among so many experienced photographers, I had a fun time and a great experience! I learned a lot and am looking forward to another meet up with this group.

Thanks to all! It was a new kind of shoot for me and I learned a lot. The photos I've posted probably aren't right for advertising but they turned out pretty well, I think.

Great shoot! Thanks Eric for putting it together, the models for being lovely as well as talented, and my fellow shooters for being friendly and helpful. Looking forward to the next one!

Good job, Eric! It was a nice change of pace to have a commercial-type theme; and Vespa's are, indeed, cool. Do you have the model names so I can update the IPTC data (except Ela, of course).

    Thanks!

I just wanted to thank everyone for coming out! I had a great time meeting new photographers and catching up with some old friends. I was the model with the curly hair that was jumping all over the place Haha! But please when you get done photo editing, me and the 2 other models are super excited to see what you shot! So far the pics look pretty cool!

    Thank you soooooo much!

Thank Eric for another great event!

Wow our first event a sellout! Awesome. This year we will be offering lots of these smaller shoots where quality shooting may be had more easily than the open shoot we often have. We still will have lots of free meetups too, we have our sweet social meetup coming up on Thursday Jan 9th. Thanks to everyone that is helping make our little gathering grow!

REALLY looking forward to this! If you have friends on the fence, give them a nudge to come out. It takes a lot of work for guys like Eric to put on an portfolio building event like this!

OK, I see you've changed the listing. Thanks.

We've already got models lined up however if any of our model members want to come out for this event please shoot me a note in advance. Nobody is allowed to "just show up" to this event. RSVP only for photographers, advanced screening for models. Go ahead and start hating....now. ;)

Hey yalz! It looks like the Retro/Modern Vespa shoot is going to be awesome. It's going to be small (under 10 photographers) and it's just $39. We hare going to have models, lights - We'll have softboxes and strobes set up with a radio controller we pass to the photographer at the mail shooting area 1 at a time, and the coolest Vespa shop around (Motoretta) on a day that they are not open to the public. This event is just after the holidays and 5 spots are already taken. Come test your new gear? Betta RSVP nowz.. http://www.meetup.com/atlphotomeetup/events/152837312/

Even though I live out of town, I can attend your shoots when time permits. I have committed to a major production at a church here in Cincinnati. Please do not remove my name from your contact list.

      You are always welcome Rodney!

Can we bring a softbox and light?

    December 16, 2013

    • Eric J. E.

Hey Rob! I guess yes for the outside locations but no for inside. We hope to have a hotlight set up indoors if we can get enough photographers to sign up in advance. It's only as cool as the number of RSVPs we can muster - though the Vespa shop is second to none.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Can't wait to get back involved in these high quality events.

    November 27, 2013

    • Eric J. E.

Thanks Pete! We'll be posting a few shots of the attending models soon. We are limiting the number of photographers to maximize the shooting fun. See you there!

      November 28, 2013

  • Carla R.

Sounds amazing. How many photogs normally attend something like this for you guys?

    November 26, 2013

    • Eric J. E.

This time out we are limiting to 20 photographers. We will have 4 models and at least 2 shooting areas so there will be room for everyone to get great shots.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
