Open Mic / Song Discussion

Come join us for our open mic/discussion meetup!

It's $3 at the door, starts at 8PM.

You can sign up to play a song if you'd like when you get here.

Everyone who wants to perform/play a recording will play one song and then we will discuss it (if you want).  Keyboard will be provided.  You are welcome to bring acoustic guitar, a recording, an a capella song, and even just some lyrics.  If it makes music, and you wrote a song with it; bring it on!

    I really enjoyed coming tonight
And I give y'all the green light
To compose and write some more
Then sing and let your voices soar. - A

I was going to come tonight, but I'm having to prepare for a very heavy work load over the next two days, so I'm going home to rest up. See everybody next week.

Good stuff, Al! Terrific hooks throughout your playing. Different feel from what I've heard you present before. I really like the two lines that open your chorus ("Walking in the dark, Walking without light") and your final verse ("I have made a decision to turn around
And go to where the light was sworn
And If the light is nowhere to be found
I will be the one to turn it on")

      Thanks Peter!

      - Would you care to guess where it is that "light was sworn"? - A

Updated: Comments and feedback please on this new Work In Progress:

    Walking in the dark

When I was young and curious
I wanted to know and figure out
How the world was put together
There was never any room for any doubt

They filled my head with rules and facts
They taught me how to be smart
But they Left out the most essential part
They never taught me how to see the light

    Chorus:
    Walking in the dark
    Walking without light
    Where will I end up
    Will I be all-right
Will I get to top of the cloud
Or to the bottom of the pit
Will I be chosen from the crowd
Or will I have to quit

How she could become the queen of the world

When my walk has reached its end
At the bottom of the pit
No-one chose me from the crowd
And I almost was made to quit

I have made a decision to turn around
And go to where the light was sworn
