Re: [modeling-193] Alien Bees - Studio Lights

I have a set of 4 AB400's that I have used for several years.  I love mine.  They do a great job and have held up well for me.  I have a portable power pack and a roll case and can take them anywhere.  They have a good select of reasonably priced modifiers and accessories.  I use the 13' heavy duty stands and haven't been overly impressed with them but the get the job done.

If I had the money to burn I would get something higher end,  but if you are on a budget, they are a great way to start doing studio shoots.

Hi all,

I am in the market and I am considering purchasing a set of Alien Bees 800 strobe lights. Does anyone of our members use AB's? I would like to hear any Pros and Cons. I read some things online, I just wanted to hear some facts from our members. I will use the lights for a home studio and on locations and maybe for special events. When I need additional space I will rent out a studio.

Also, I am wondering should I purchase the light stands that comes with the kit or purchase another type of stands Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time,

R.
