Picnic at a park

I think we should try an informal picnic at a park just to get to know each other and chat. The kids can play while the parents talk. Griffith Park has a great playground area and a huge grassy area and tables to have lunch. It can get a bit busy on the weekends, but I've still enjoyed it. Or there is a nice park on Balboa and Burbank that has shaded tables and a fenced in park so it allows less chasing of kids and more chatting with parents? Hopefully we can have a meetup again soon!

We are somewhat unqualified to comment due to the fact that we arrived late and missed the initial meetup. But we are familiar with the venue. Even though we were unable to meet other like-minded families, we still had a wonderful time.

The location was very appropriate and fun for the kiddos, and the adult conversation was enjoyable as we got to know other people.

The travel museum itself was fun, my kids loved it! My only issue is that nobody actually "met up". Some of us waited by the front gate for 30 minutes before assuming we were the only ones and then we come to find that there were a whole bunch of other people they just didn't join our group. Not exactly my kind of get together, I was hoping to meet some new people.

I don't know if they allow food past the front gate. However, I'm sure we'll sneak some snacks in for our little squirt. lol

Let's meet near the gift shop, at the food tables. I'd like to take a group photo at some point and my little girl loves to ride the tiny train (several times). It should be a fun morning. Any other ideas? My number is[masked]

I'm going to be out of town, but I'm trying to convince my husband, Paul, to go with our 8 month old son. If he does go, it'll probably be a bit late, after nap time.

We'd love to come to an event. . . weekend and closer to LA like Griffith Park would work really well for us!

Hey Alexandra! I definitely plan on having weekend meetups, I just wanted to get a few things on the calendar as soon as possible. I promise there will be weekend dates on the calendar soon.

Yes - but please, have it on the weekend! Not all of us have the luxury of not working.

Yeah I love the Shane's Inspiration parks. They are all over the city. I will see about getting a park day set up as soon as possible. :)

I agree Griffith Park is a bit large, but I think we could make it work if we are very specific about where to find us and have a large sign. :) It's so central. There are also picnic areas along the road leading to the zoo that are easier to find and less busy. Any park will be good! It'd be nice to get everyone into an informal location to hang out and get to know one another.

I think this is a great idea. Each family can bring their own food so there will be no stressing about food organization. Griffith park is good because it is in the middle of L.A. The only problem that I see is that it is so big that it may be hard to find everyone. The Balboa park is great is people want to venture to the valley. :-)

Thanks Rachel for the great idea!
