Melbourne AWS User Group Monthly Meetup

Our regular monthly meetup (on the last Wednesday of every month).

Arrive at 6:00pm for a 6:15pm start.

This month is all about SAP Hanna!

This month we have had a fantastic opportunity and snaffled Simon Dale, Head of Technology and Innovation, Asia Pacific for SAP.

Simon is 'in country', and while he is here has generously offered to provide his time and present Hanna to the AWS User Group.

Now I know that Hanna is not specifically an AWS technology, but this is a great opportunity to talk to the SAP Hanna expert from within SAP.

SAP is keen to get startups looking at and using Hanna, and I'm sure AWS can (and will) be a big part of that. (Although you won't know unless you are there!)

Here is Simon's bio:

Based in SAP’s Singapore headquarters, Simon has worked extensively in all major Asia Pacific countries for the past eleven years, most recently for the past year as Head of Technology and Innovation, driving adoption of SAP's new technologies beyond the traditional ERP customer base. Currently he is focused on engaging startups to evaluate and adopt SAP HANA.

As always we will be providing free beer and Pizza.

If anyone has experience with Hanna we would love to see you there!

Show notes (from SAP speaker Simon Dale):

    SAP HANA
    - www.gftchina.com was the first startup to buy SAP HANA - they had a 10,000x improvement in query/algorithm performance (10+ hours to a few seconds). This is not unusual. - www.sogamo.com in Singapore is also running on HANA on Amazon Web Services, providing real-time offers to online and mobile game players. They moved off mongoDB, Postgres and Apache clusters to both get to real-time and speed up their development time 10x

SAP HANA can be accessed for test & development for free in the cloud – see here
We also have over 250 free videos to learn how to use it here
Information on and a download for the SAP end-user query tool Visual Intelligence can be found here
We also have a cloud PaaS with free access for development here, which also has HANA as a database option

Howdy, Im Financial IT Sales professional from TOKYO-JAPAN, seeking networking opps with industry peers in melb as I relocated recently.

Knew & followed AWS for quite a while being in cloud MSP, yet fingers crossed about SAP focus here, indeed how Cloud/SAP go together..expecting real informative discussion on table.
