DevOps and finance teams need to continuously manage their costs. Idle and underutilized resources will quickly escalate your bill. On-Demand instances cost 4-6x comparable Reserved Instances. With self-provisioning, and multiple pricing choices, the question is how do you ensure that your team is optimizing your spend?

For this presentation Aaron Newman of CloudCheckr will be covering 

• An overview of AWS costs

• How to use tags to track and allocate spend by business unit, department, or team

• How to identify idle and underutilized resources

• How to evaluate RI purchases and other opportunities for cost savings

Speaker 1:

Aaron Newman, a Founder of CloudCheckr, is a public cloud expert and, along with holding a CSA Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge, brings a breadth of experience to CCI. He is a serial entrepreneur who has previously founded three other successful startups – Techrigy, DbSecure, and Application Security, Inc. Aaron authored both Enterprise 2.0, printed by McGraw-Hill, and the Oracle Security Handbook, printed by Oracle Press. He is an acclaimed international speaker on technology topics. Aaron has also authored 4 patents in database security and social media. At CloudCheckr Inc. (CCI), Aaron manages the company’s technology vision.

A group member will be stationed outside the building until 7:30 to help AWS Atlanta meetup members into the building.
