Amazon DynamoDB is a scalable, durable, high performance, highly available, distributed database, and a solid foundation on which to build your applications that will need to grow quickly. In this technical talk, David Yanacek, Lead Software Engineer for Amazon DynamoDB, will deep dive on how to:
• use DynamoDB to build high-scale applications like social gaming, chat, and voting.
• model these applications using DynamoDB, including how to use building blocks like conditional writes, consistent reads, and batch operations to build the higher-level functionality needed for these applications, such as multi-item atomic writes and join queries.
• incorporate best practices like index projections, item sharding, and parallel scan for maximum scalability.
Networking reception to follow.
David Yanacek is Lead Software Engineer on the Amazon DynamoDB team. In addition to working on the core DynamoDB service, he helps developers learn to build high-scale applications on DynamoDB. David has published several blog posts on using DynamoDB, and wrote an open-source transaction library for DynamoDB on top of the AWS SDK for Java. He also consults with customers to help them evaluate their designs. David ran a workshop at AWS re: Invent last year, Getting Started with DynamoDB, and is presenting again this year: Mastering NoSQL: Advanced DynamoDB Design Patterns for Ultra High Performance Apps.
