November Wine Tasting - Côte d'Or!

  • November 23, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This isn't your run-of-the-mill Burgundy tasting.  We'll be exploring the celebrated wines of Burgundy's heartland - the Côte d'Or.  This is arguably where the world's finest, and most expensive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines are produced.

Joe will be providing the wine education and a sampling of extraordinary Côte d'Or red and white wines that will without a doubt further your wine appreciation. You'll learn about the geology, terroir, and rich history of winemaking that makes this region unique.

Also in this meeting, for those that participated in the National Tasting Project: the results will be announced and the winner from our group that scored the closest to the national average will be revealed.

Cost per person, depending on attendance, will be at least $25 per person.  Please bring a few extra $1 bills just in case we have less than 18 attendees.  Also, please bring an appetizer to share.  Suggested pairings include mushrooms, shrimp, escargot, chicken livers, niçoise olives, savory cheeses (epoisses, chaource, comté), wine or cassis poached pears, and french baguettes.

Please note, this meetup group is designed for members and potential members of the American Wine Society. If you are not already an AWS member, you can attend 2 home events with the AWS Worcester meetup group before joining AWS.  For more info on American Wine Society membership and benefits, click here.  We'd love to have you become a member of AWS!  And now, you can get a half year discounted membership for $35!

In case of allergies, we have our resident dog, Nikko, who will be joined by our visiting dog, Redd. They will both be excited to see you, but we'll keep them at bay during your visit!

Soooooo sorry that Lou and I cannot make it to the tasting. We were looking forward to it for weeks, and even more so once the theme was announced. Hope you all have a wonderful time.

2005 was considered a magnificent red wine vintage in Burgundy and it's widely agreed that few past vintages come close. So naturally, we'll be tasting 2005 vintages.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
