January's wine tasting will be led by an Italian wine importer, Jeanine Eisenberg! Check out her website: http://www.vincantara.com/index.html. The theme is: Best Value Italian Wines. The cost of the wines will be shared by the group, and will be between $9-$12 per person, depending on how many people can make it. Please bring cash to reimburse Regina, who is kind enough to purchase the wines for us. We'll start gathering at 7pm, and start the tastings at 7:30.
We will have a greeting wine, and 3 fantastic wine pairings, starting with a white flight, followed by two red flights. Jeanine will pour Santa Caterina and Scalavite for the first flight. For the second flight, she will show two varietals as regular and riserva: The Grillesino: Morellino 2011 vs. the Morellino Riserva 2009. And our third flight will be the Cantine Due Palme: Canonico 2010 (Negroamaro) vs. Selvarossa (90% Negroamaro - riserva and 6 time Tre Bicchieri award winner).
Jeanine had some great recommendations for food to pair with the wines she has specially selected for us. Feel free to bring one of these suggestions, or whatever appetizer or dish suits your fancy!
Sliced meats (ham, turkey, etc), hard cheeses (like parm/reggiano), fresh breads (including fruit and nut breads), a seafood salad with lemon juice and olive oil, any non-vinegar based vegetable dish.
Please email Theresa if you have any questions. See you Saturday!
*In case of allergies, we do have a medium-sized dog.*
