Happy New Year! I'm very pleased to bring you confirmation of the agenda for our first AWS User Group meetup of 2014.
March 12th, 18:30 for a prompt 19:00 start
We have a wonderful new Sponsor, News UK, for this session. They have kindly given us the use of the spectacular 13th floor of the News UK building next to St Katherine's Dock. I went for a look recently and the views across London are stunning!
We're going to be well looked after - News UK have also offered beer and pizza refreshments during the evening, and some nibbles on arrival.
We will have a broad theme of looking at the announcements and news from re:Invent in 2013 including new products and services from AWS and the experiences of those who attended.
18:30 : Arrival, nibbles
19:00 : Introduction – Norman Driskell, group organiser
19:05 : Welcome from News UK, our journey to cloud so far and aspirations - Chris Birch, IT Director, News UK
19:10 : Session 1 : From the Technology department at News UK:
1) 10 things I’d wished I’d know about AWS before I got started - Darius Aliabadi, System Engineer
2) DC3, News UK transition to the cloud - Michael Holtby, AWS Technical Lead
19:40 : Refreshments! Beer, wine, pizza!

20:30 : Session 3 – What's new from Re:Invent 2013?
Ian Massingham - Technical Evangelist, AWS
Ian will provide an update on new AWS Services launched at the Global AWS User Education Conference, Re:Invent, which took place in November last year. This will focus on the major new service announcements including Kenesis, Workspaces and AppStream, and will include a few examples of how early adopters are using these services.
21:00 : Networking
Our hosts need to know exactly who is coming, so please ask your guests to sign up to the group and RSVP at least 24 hours in advance.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you,
Norm (@n0rm / @AWSUserGroupUK)
