Come and have some great mtb fun at Hawes Trail Loops at Red Mountain!
There are beautiful views of Red Mtn, with singletrack rolling through gorgeous desert terrain. There will be some technical areas, some loose rock, some exposure, a couple challenging climbs, plus totally fun rolling sections. Best suited for intermediates and above. There are several loops so there can be options of where to ride, but plan on 2+ hours. Please contact organizer if you have any questions or concerns about this ride.
DIRECTIONS: Meet behind the Walgreens at N. Thomas and N. Power Rd. We will carpool and/or ride from there to the TH.
There is a trail at the north end of the Park & Ride lot that parallels Power Rd and intersects with Eagle Crest Dr (Thomas Rd) at the canal bank. Just cross Eagle Crest and catch the Fence Line trail on the east side of the canal. No need to cross Power Rd. Sorry I'm gonna miss this one. Have a great time!
I live in Las Sendas which butt's up to Hawes. We could meet at my house for easy parking and private entrance to Hawes. Also, I'd be willing to have BBQ/potluck afterwards if people are interested?
Brandon, I will contact you next week and get directions to post so that we can start at your house. Thanks! And thank you Mark for the good suggestions. We will use this in the future!
Right in my backyard! I ride at Hawes 3-4 times/week. Unfortunately I will be out of town that weekend :-( However... I would suggest a different (better) meetup location for this ride. There is a new Park & Ride lot about 1/2 mile south of the Walgreens mentioned above. It's on the east side of Power Rd at (actually under) the 101 overpass. There are no parking restrictions and even surveillance cameras to keep an eye on our vehicles. Continued...
