UGLY Holiday Sweater Party and MEGA-Potluck at South Mountain Park, Phoenix

Our MEGA-Potlucks are known for bringing out 100 - 200+ Raw Food Enthusiasts so we've chosen South Mountain Park in Phoenix because it is easily accessible by freeway from every corner of the Valley and to those coming from out-of-town. It offers plenty of space for our large gathering. At more than 17,000 acres, South Mountain is the largest urban park in the world. A desert mountain preserve, you will find excellent mountain biking, hiking and the rightly famous South Mountain Drive here! After you pass through the headquarters section on the park's main road, turn right at the sign that says Big Ramada and Little Ramada picnic areas. There's plenty of parking.

THEME: This event is our Holiday Party. I'm sure we'll get a little whacky with our plans so bring your light hearted spirit and be ready for fun. Children, friends and families are welcome :) Don't forget your outdoor games: Frisbee, jump rope, bubbles, horse shoes. Celebrate the season by eating local produce.

We'll have a special treat for everyone that shows up in an ugly holiday sweater. (You know this will be fun) Now is the time to pull out that silly light-up Rudolph sweater from the back of your closet... or start searching thrift stores.

Every ingredient of everything served will be raw. While not everyone in the raw food community is strictly vegan, most of the foods will also be vegan. If your dish is not vegan, please disclose what non-vegan raw ingredients you have used by highlighting them on the ingredient card attached to your dish. Please refrain from bringing anything that contains animal flesh (meat, fish). This is a FREE event. In an effort to promote a greener world, we encourage you to bring your own plate, utensils, cup BUT NO GLASS (park rules) and cloth napkin and simply take it home to clean. For those who choose not to bring their own, set-ups (and trash removal) will be available at the event – but $2 per person will be charged. This is an RSVP event. Please RSVP here and keep your RSVP accurate if your plans change between now and then.

There will be a Check-In at the Potluck. We look forward to seeing you there! It is time to get your ugliest ugly on... Don't hold back, y'all ;) I want to see your tackiest knitted Christmas tree best, poinsettias, snowflakes and Santas galore. I would be totally overjoyed if someone serenaded me with "Frosty the Snowman".

Hello, before preparing a dish for the potluck... i am curious if it is acceptable to bring a dish that is not "strict raw". I have noticed some of the ingredients in the recipes posted on this site are liberal.. ie. maple syrup, honey, etc.. which are heated in their processing.
I am curious if seaweeds which are toasted on a medium heat are considered raw...and toasted sesame oil...

*on another note... I find it helpful when people make a notecard with a list of the ingredients for their dish....
labeling organic/ non organic and also listing ingredients for food sensitive folks....

Looking forward to feasting with beautiful beings*****

We ask that all ingredients be listed on an index card. We draw the line with fleshy stuff (meat) and dairy that is not raw (many raw foodists consume raw dairy). Very few of our members are 100% raw vegan and we believe in giving them the freedom to choose which meals they would LOVE to IN*JOY. This is why ingredient cards are so valuable. In the spirit of creativity and to keep the group's core belief thriving, we suggest dishes that are as raw as possible. Reasonably Raw is how we roll ;) XoXo
