Aloha! AZ native, outdoor lover & nature enthusiast here.
Thank you for your interest in the AZ Single Adventurers.
The AZ Single Adventurers is an active social group. We are not a drinking group and we are not a dating group. We don't host bar crawls or singles mixers - many other groups host those events and you are welcome to attend one of their events. However, our group may go out for beers after a hike or post events that involve light drinking. Most of our events involve being active in some way, whether it is related to walking, hiking, kayaking, sailing or indoor rock climbing ... we enjoy staying active.
I require a photograph when signing up for the group and occasionally I would get someone without a picture and I figured it was a woman just being cautious. I used to do the same thing! But lately more and more people are joining with fake photos (scenery or avatars) and I decided this was important to me. I need a picture to identify you at events and if nobody has a picture in their profile it will create stress for me because I can't watch for you when you are trying to find me at events. So if you don't have a real picture in your profile of you then I can't approve you - I am sorry.
Our group currently has a main organizer (myself) and three co-organizers (Jill, Stephen and Tom). I (Lisa) have been dating someone I met in the group since 2013 and have felt I need to pass the torch on to someone else. My co-organizers are testing out leading the group together to see if they would like to take it over in the fall. All three plus my assistant organizer Luis all believe in the group concept - we can have fun without getting drunk and we love to stay active while getting to know others.
The new leadership has decided to change the group stance on no-shows. As of July 9, 2016 our new policy is if you fail to change your RSVP for an event and don't show up (no-show) 3 times you get e-mailed a warning. If you are a no-show for a 4th time you will get kicked out of the group. The new management team feels it is necessary to have an active group and no-shows cause the event host stress. We volunteer our time to offer fun activities for our members so less stress makes us happier :0)
