Sound design with Operator

Dear all

For the next meetup, we have decided to take look at the powerful Operator synth, part of the Ableton Suite package.

Operator is a versatile instrument offering a combination of analog-style subtractive, FM and additive synthesis methods. This provides a platform for a very wide range of sound design possibilities for creating not only standard basses, pads and leads, but also drums and percussive sounds, sound effects and textures.

In this meetup we are going to take a detailed look by analyzing examples of sound synthesis with Operator.

In doing this we will cover various sound design techniques which will be applicable for your general understanding of synthesis and would be beneficial for you when you create sounds or modify presets.

We invite our members to prepare some patches they have been using or to simply come along and learn.

If anyone has any particular requests in terms of sounds they like to learn how to make, please let us know via the comments section below.

If you intend to present, please also put a note in the comments section.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

I can't make it this time. What a pity! Have a good one. Any chance of lecture notes / powerpoint or anything from this meet up session?

OK I can make it this time. Please leave directions and the room number at both security points for where the meeting is being held. It is not possible for non students to access the university internet system and the mobile signal is poor/non existent on campus so accesing any direftions from meet up is not possible.

Hi Jonty, always come through The Forum entrance. That's where I've always been waiting for and escorting people from. Today we will be in C Block, MR1. See you later.
