This group is about like-minded people with a passion for outdoor adventures. With so much to explore in UAE and beyond, our endeavor is to offer a comprehensive array of exciting adventures on weekends, holidays and some weekdays far from the pub crawling and the Malls of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Desert & Mountain - hiking, walking, trekking, camping, rock climbing, quad biking, offroading, horse riding etc.
Beach & Sea - Boating & Sailing, Wakeboarding, Jet skiing, Kite & Surfing, Diving, Fishing, migratory bird watching etc.
Adventure travelling to nearby GCC and Asian countries.
About our events: From a full moon Liwa desert Overnighter to a 12 hour Jabal shams Hike to a fun filled Wadi Bih hiking, camping and dhow cruise; not to forget the rock climbing session in the month of June in a cool shaded place high up in the Hatta mountains. With almost 30 events in last six months we have been the most active outdoor meetup group in Abu Dhabi and we are not closed for summer.
Last six months been memorable.
There is plenty to discover in UAE and the countries in GCC, and definitely good times ahead.

20 August 2011 Update- Its time to think creatively. With a review in the health section of the April issue of Whats On, another article in the august issue of Tempo youth magazine and increased no. of members joining; why not widen the scope of activities to enjoy the outdoors! A true sun worshipper !!! That starts with a change of name too. So with a new group logo we announce our new name "Abu Dhabi Adventurers".

We are buzzing with creativity, energy and activity. Never a dull moment. So join in now!
Have a brand new identity on facebook too. Main objective of the facebook group is to use the group chat facility for commenting on ideas, discussing and planning our meetups. This initiative will reduce the no. of mails that members receive and have a joyful experience in our meetup group.
Once you are accepted as a member of our meetup group then you may join the facebook and blackberry group.
Group Policy
To join our group: We constantly churn the member database and so our focus has never been to increase the no. of members in our group. Focus is on educational and professional background, interests and if you are family man/woman then you get brownie points. So request you to have an updated profile with all the necessary details, a closeup-clearly visible face or a full length pic. You are also requested to mail your contact details to the email id mentioned on the joining form. Failure to follow the above points would result in declining your membership request.
We do let in more women than men just to make sure we have a proper ratio when we have people RSVP for meetups. Usually in our experience, we have found that when we keep the ratio of women:men at 2:1 in our group composition, we get an equal turnout in the actual meetup. On an average we receive 10 requests from males as compared to 1 request from females. since we have to be careful about the ratio of the people in the group, men may sometimes face a delay while having their requests accepted. Please be patient and rest assured that if your profile is good, you will definitely get in.
To join our events: Our volunteer organizers are not certified leaders or guides. Some events take us into new areas with which we may not be familiar. EACH PARTICIPANT IS THEREFORE RESPONSIBLE for THEMSELVES, researching the trails/area and getting prepared/familiarized with current maps, books or Internet sites before attending an event although in our organized events we would take necessary safety precautions and preparations.
Promoting outside events or groups: You are not supposed to put up an idea to promote the event of another meetup group or any external entity which does activities to profit from it. If an event is being organized by a independent event company or a operator then please send a mail to the group organizer and an appropriate decision would be taken which is in the interests of our group and its members.
We are not a network marketing or a group trying to promote any members business interests and hence request you to desist from sending spam emails or calls or discussions.
Member Conduct and Privacy: We are a diverse, multicultural group and you are expected to be respectful and kind to every member. Any form of racism will not be tolerated.
While we increase our focus to have married couples and families joining us; many of the members in this group may be single. Any inappropriate contact, greeting emails/posts or calls for dating is to be avoided.
During the events crude come-ons, inappropriate touching, unwanted attention, unappreciated innuendo, stalking, rude or aggressive behavior is to be avoided and will not be tolerated.
If any of the above happens to you then please contact the organizer immediately and we will remove the member from the group.
Membership and event fee: The organizer pays a fee to meetup.com every month but as a policy we dont charge a joining fee or a membership fee. In our organized events although we would take necessary safety precautions and also ensure to keep the costs low; you are responsible for your own safety and we expect you to take care of your expenses in the meetup. This would include a minimal additional amount to take care of Group fee to meetup.com, organizing fee, and also to buy outdoor equipment for our future outdoor activities. For eg. we wish to invest in equipment like 2 nos. of walkie-talkie, hand-held GPS for hiking/convoys, topo maps, ropes for canyoning and some basic safety equipment. Sponsorships from organizations are most welcome.
Inactivity: We expect all of our members to remain active in our group. If you are not active, you will be contacted to check on your continuing interest, and if you do not respond, then you will possibly be removed from the Group for continued inactivity. When you agree to Meetup.com's ToS, you are pledging to meet other people face-to-face; however, we understand that your schedule is not always going to mesh with ours, so please note that remaining active does not require you to attend Meetups. It only requires you to visit our Meetup web site at least once every 60 days. Approximately once every six months we will be purging our member database, and if you have been inactive, then you will be contacted once via email. If you do not respond or take action according to the directions in the email, then you will be removed, but will be welcome to rejoin at any time.
