Guitar in the Park - Stuyvesant Square Park.

Join us at the park to play acoustic guitar and sing.  Geared for intermediate and beginner (advanced beginner) level and for singers.  We typically play contemporary and classic rock, alternative, pop and R&B.  We have some great songs for female vocalists as well.  We will play in small groups so that everyone has the chance to participate, learn new songs and share techniques.  Bring a music stand if you have one.

I have posted many songs on the Meetup site that you can print out and bring to the park.  Go to the Toolbar 'More' menu and click on the 'Files' tab to view and download the songs.  Feel free to email me any songs with chords in a word document that you would like me to add online for the group at [masked] and/or bring some copies of your songs to the Meetup for everyone to learn.

Bring whatever else that will make you comfortable like stools, blankets, and food.  The Meetup will be canceled if there is rain.

Directions:  We will meet at Stuyvesant Square Park closest to 15th street and just west of 2nd avenue in the southeast corner of the square.  It's a small park so you shouldn't have any problem finding us, but there we will be on the side west of 2nd avenue so don't go looking for us east of second avenue.  The park has plenty of shade and benches which will be good during hot summer days.  Easy access from the Union Square trains or L train. See the map below.

we had another great guitar in the park, covering music of different genres, styles and eras. We played some familiar teens, and thanks everyone for introducing new song to the group today. The location was perfect once again providing us with shade and benches on a hot summer day. And thank you Danner and Alma for bringing snacks!

Thanks Danny. Danner, I added 'Revolution' and 'Wish You Were Here' to the list, but if you could send me the Bon Jovi song you played last time I can add that as well.

Looks like great weather today, and we have an excellent location with tree coverage and shade to protect us from the sun or rain. For those who haven't been to the location, it very close access from the Union Square subway station and the park has parking around it for those driving.

Good work, David; you are truly the hardest-working organizer on Meetup. For those who don't know, David can often be found toiling late into the night just to get our songbook just right. Everybody remember to bring a buck tomorrow!

David, (and our fiddle gal Madeleine), and everybody -- what do think about using the fiddle to play a couple of solo breaks or riffs and play them tomorrow. For instance, maybe the small solos in "Ticket to Ride" or some of the harmonica stuff in Dylan and Neil Young tunes, or maybe some other tunes?

Hi Madeleine, you might try listening to the violin/fiddle on Viva La Vida to see if you can reproduce. https://www.youtube.co...

No problem, even a short one- or two-measure bit will do...:)

Hi Danny, I added 'Michelle' and 'Just Like a Woman' to the song lists posted on sharepoint and I also reformatted 'Maggie May'. Does anyone else have any songs that they would like me to add for tomorrow?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
