Acoustic Guitar and Singing in the Park - Stuyvesant Park

Join us at the park to play acoustic guitar and sing. Geared for intermediate and beginner (advanced beginner) level guitarists and for singers. We typically play contemporary and classic rock, alternative, pop and R&B. We have some great songs for female vocalists as well. We will play in small groups so that everyone has the chance to participate, learn new songs and share techniques.

I have posted many songs on the Meetup site that you can practice, print out and bring to the park. Log onto the Meetup site and navigate to the 'More' menu and click on the 'Files' tab to view and download the songs. Many of the songs come from fellow group members, so feel free to email me any songs with chords in a word document that you would like me to add online for the group at [masked]. Instructions for submitting songs are posted on the Discussion Board.

Bring your capo, a guitar strap, picks, a music stand if you have one, and a good attitude. There are no dues, but everyone can bring healthy food, snacks and drinks to share with the group during our 'snack break'.

The Meetup will be canceled if there is rain, so check the web site on bad weather days for updates.

Directions: We will meet at Stuyvesant Square Park closest to 15th street and just west of 2nd avenue in the southeast corner of the square. Easy access from the Union Square trains or L train.  It's a small park so you shouldn't have any problem finding us, but there we will be on the side west of 2nd avenue so don't go looking for us east of second avenue. The park has plenty of shade and benches which are perfect for hot summer days.

We had another super day in the Park. Thanks everyone for coming, we had a great group of people today. The group dynamic changed throughout the day which provided for a lot of variety. I liked the way the group came together at the end. We played some great songs and enjoyed a quick snack break together. Sorry that we missed those of you that had to pull out at the last minute. Hopefully we will see you next time.

Hi all, I just wanted to remind everyone who is coming to the meetup on Sunday to bring a capo and guitar strap. It would also be a good idea to print out some or all of the songs on our song lists and add them to a binder. Also, for this Sunday I'm asking everyone to pick a song from the song list that they would like the group to play, and that you might want to lead. Reply to this conversation so that everyone can practice those songs, in addition to our standard songs.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
