Acoustic Guitar & Singing in the Park

Join us at the park to play acoustic guitar and sing. We play a mix of contemporary, rock, alternative, pop and R&B music. We also have some great songs for female vocalists. We usually play in small groups of  5 – 15 players so that everyone can participate and contribute.  The group is very friendly and casual.

We have song lists posted on our group’s Meetup site if you want to practice some of the material we play. Log onto the Meetup site and navigate to the 'More' menu and click on the 'Files' tab to view and download the songs.

Bring your capo, a guitar strap, and a good attitude.  Bring a music stand if you have one, and printed out song book if you can.  There are no dues, but everyone can bring healthy food, snacks or drinks to share with the group during our 'snack break'.

The Meetup will be canceled if there is rain, so check the web site on bad weather days for updates.

Thanks everyone for another fun jam in the park. Zita, you came prepared with your song book, snacks, great energy, and a friend! To all the regulars, great to play with you always. You are the foundation of this group. Also a special thanks to the park for protecting us from the sun and the rain. I can't believe we were there playing for over 5 hours. I will take a look at some of the new song suggestions. See you next time!

Thanks to David and all who attended. A lovely day.
Here's the Everly Bros. version of Love Hurts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFE2SnliiV0
It was written by Boudleaux Bryant without his wife, Felice (Matilda Genevieve Scaduto). Together and apart they wrote many songs including: All I Have to Do Is Dream, Bye Bye Love & Devoted to You.

    See you all next time.

Quick update: It did rain very briefly this morning, but it has since cleared up and should stay clear during the jam. So the jam is still on, and I will be there at 1. The park is ideal for this situation as we have benches and tree cover. We have a smaller group today due to the world cup and last minute cancellations, but this is often a great opportunity to get to know each other and try out new stuff.

I'm still in! Bringing a girlfriend for audience and perhaps a lil back up vocals!

I think our attendee limit is about 19. But if we ever get 68 attendees, I'll eat my guitar. :)

As a reminder to all guitar players, remember to bring a guitar strap and capo to the meetup on Sunday. Tzahi, did you get a guitar strap :)

    • Danny

BTW, you can always use a sneaker lace as a strap in a pinch...

Hi everyone, it just came to my attention that the World Cup finals are on Sunday at 3. We can still go ahead with the meetup, but if peoples schedules are open, I am thinking it would be better to move the meetup to Saturday around at 2:30.

    July 7

    • Zita

Saturday won't work for me, I'll be out of the city... what's the world cup? ; )

      July 8

    • David

Ok, let's keep the Sunday time pending additional responses back from those who have RSVP'd and the weather of course.

Hi Eveth and Safia, it's great that you are joining the jam! You have to be logged into the meetup site to see all the song lists. Like Danny said, we usually play songs from the lists so that everyone can participate. The mix of song depends on the make up and preferences of the meetup group that day. If you see some songs that you like, let the group know so that we can practice them. If there are songs that you want to recommend that aren't on the list, then you can send me an email with the songs and chords. If I think it is a good fit for the group, I will add it. Just make sure you can fit the song on one page.

Silly us, I just just noticed that David has already clearly specified in the Meetup description how to access the song files! So we all gotta learn to read. Just goes to show organizing is best left to the pros.

  • Danny

Hi, Eveth, and welcome to our group. too. If you proceed through the document from the list of songs (organized as a Table of Contents) the following pages consist of lyrics and chords for each song in the Table of Contents. If you are missing those pages, try downloading it again.

    July 4

  • Eveth C.

I see the list but that's about it, just the title of the songs.

  • Danny

Hi, Safia, and welcome to the group. David, our organizer, has created a set of song files with lyrics and chords that you can access from "Files" under the "More" tab at the top of this page. We play songs from these sets, as well as other undocumented bonus selections..
