Beginning to intermediate tune jam. Celtic, old-time, bluegrass. Reels, jigs, polka, waltzes. My house in Louisville or someplace else. I'll make it official if there is enough interest. Maybe one guitar but mostly for other acoustic instruments. - Bob

Thanks Bob. Very enjoyable. The kind of music group I've been looking for.

Thanks Bob. A lot of fun learning and playing a new instrument and not having 37 guitars to compete with. Even though my thumb is all bandaged up today, it was worth it!

What a great meetup...thanks so much, Bob, for coming up with the idea! This definitely has to go on the calendar as a regular event. I'm so inspired, I'm gonna go out and buy me a fiddle... :-)

Won't be able to make it 'til 7:30 or so but I'm just learning mandolin chords so that's probably not a bad thing in terms of the general group sound... :-)

Sorry for the late notice, but I won't be able to make it tonight. Next Time!

I know a majority of these songs, though it has been years since I played some of them so I might be a bit rusty. I can also bring a handful of Irish tunes and a few Cape Breton pieces.

I can play a bunch of those on fiddle and mandolin, but I can't join you this evening. Next time! And I'm willing to host as well in Lafayette. Have fun tonight!

Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to get off work until almost 6pm on Friday evening, so I will be a little late. I hope that's okay.

In a similar spirit, I think I may throw a no people jam, only guitars.

    Bob,

Is 36 still all torn up? It was a nightmare when I went to see Tim O'Brien at Chautaqua in May.

They are done with the detours and the major bridge work. There is still some lane shifting and work zones. The Colorado road info is here: http://www.cotrip.org...

Zuke is easier to spell than bouzouki.

I had just never heard it called a "Zuke".

A bouzouki was inspired by the Greek bouzouki. It's neck is similar to a guitar in length and has a round body it has eight strings and tune to 5th's like the mandolin. But is not part of the mandolin family.

  • Ruth

But not. A Zuke is not a member of the mandolin family.

    Ruth, please explain a Zuke?

    July 1, 2013

    • Bob

Bouzouki - similar to an octave mandolin.

How about Friday after work, July 12? We can go in for a pizza then play some tunes!

Non-Guitar jam, huh? I have a mandolin, a banjo, an 88-keys professional Roland digital piano but I don’t play any of them. Does it mean I can not join?

    June 30, 2013

  • Tone

Great idea, Bob! It'll give me the kick in the pants I need to drag out that new mandolin I bought and learn a few chords... :-)

Bob If you want I'll try to get a location and date. Let me know your ideas there. Ed
