Jaka and the Crazians Band play The Dragon Boat Festival

Jaka (hereafter please refer to him as Jako [Pastorious]) will be playing his first gig as a bass player. Here's the description from the festival:

The Crazians band is led by Dwight Mark, author of the Colorado Dragon Boat song and Doug Yoshimura of Denver’s Cheapsuit Blues Band. Together they have over 40 years of music experience performing in the Denver area. They are joined by Javanese bassist and vocalist, Jaka Puro, and Vietnamese drummer, Tuan Cao to perform their own meld of Asian American pop rock.

I recommend you be prepared for a horde of humanity. Parking may be difficult (visit the website for suggestions, if you dare). It may be hot. Come early if possible. Wander about. Eat Asian food. Watch grown humans paddle furiously in highly decorative watercraft.

I'll be coming from something I'm doing in Loveland and may be late (but hopefully I'll be there by 2). So make yourselves comfortable, take responsibility for each other, be kind, be not meek, be plentiful and not vainglorious. Take pictures and video (Jaka likes video).

Hi, all my musician friends, thank you so much for making it out to the CDBF and see me in my first gig in a band. Your support means a lot to me. I had a great time and I hope you, too. I will remember this. Thank you again, and I look forward to jamming with you again soon. -Jaka-

Hi Everyone. I am very excited to see you all there. The schedule is still the same. It’s at the Band Stage. Dwight Mark (solo performance) is at 1:30pm then the Crazians band is at or (closer to) 2pm. It’s not bad idea to bring: sunscreen, an umbrella, a lawn blanket or a hat.

    See you all there.

Are we meeting up as a group or everyone is just going and doing their own thing?

    2 · July 21, 2013

    • Rodney

Yes, I think we should meet up too. Looks like Jaka's time slot has been moved up so I will be able to meet around noon where ever we meet. Get back to me and let me know.

We are leaving Thornton at 11:00, will catch the shuttle, and see you near the band stage in the beer garden (Beer Garden? Mmmm...).

If anyone wants to park at my place (3 blocks from the lake - East side), I can offer 1 garage space and 2 visitors' passes for the "A Permit" Zone. The walk to the lake is short, but the festival is on the North West side of the park. So, be prepared to walk a distance. Let me know! Thanks, Lana

Hi Lana, we will carpool from Dwight's house and load all our gear in one car. Dwight has a pass that can bring his car close to the stage. We will be there early. You will see you me there. Thanks, Jaka.

Hey Jaka, No problem..... great to hear that you have the logistics worked out. Patrick, I think, is the only car that will park at my house at 12:45. We will then walk to the event. Looking forward to your show! See ya soon! Lana

In the past years they set up the Band Stage close to Sheridan Blvd and W.Byron Pl (or a little bit east of it). I parked in the neighborhood (3 or 4 blocks away). I don't know this year, yet, though.

  • Patrick

Thanks Lana. I'll take you up on that offer. I know the parking can be challenging from years past when I've attended. Shall I come down to your place at 12:45?

Anyone that would like to ride with me from Broomfield please let me know.

    • Lana

Hi Patrick, sure, 12:45 will be just fine. Please call if there are any changes. Tel:[masked] Thanks, Lana
