6 Things I Never Told You (2008) inaugurates a new biannual series presented in conjunction with the ActNow foundation and New York City Council Member Letitia James

Thursday, August 27 at 6:50*, 9:30pm

6 Things I Never Told You (2008) 93min

Directed by 6 Leagues’ Stacey L. Holman, Cinque Northern, Ed DuRante, Rod Gailes OBC, Caran Hartsfield, and James Richards

The inaugural film 6 Things I Never Told You is a collaborative work, featuring six disparate films under one banner by award-winning NYU Graduate Film Program alumni. The film is best described by the directors as an “anthology of cinematic snapshots examining committed romantic relationships in flux.” Each film is about a significant landmark in relationships that are either being renewed, dominated or lost, but all the partners are longing for control.

The film segments star Jamie Hector (HBO’s The Wire), Novella Nelson (Antwone Fisher), Hassan Manning, Cherise Booth, Dominique Morriseau, Leopold Lowe, and Lela Aisha Jones.

The Lesson Plan By Eddy Duran
1712. West Indian British slave owner William Lynch allegedly travels to the United States to instruct American slave owners on how to ‘make and control' slaves; he left a letter with specific instructions. Flash forward to 2009 where we meet Nix Dunn, a Brooklyn NY public school teacher/scholar on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Obsessed with the letter, he formulates a ‘Lesson Plan' during Black History Month in a desperate attempt to substantiate his belief that the ‘slave mentality' continues to inflict psychological damage in African Americans.

For the new play it’s a very important part of the creative process for the playwright to hear the characters come to life and allow for adjustments, rewrites, and fine-tuning.
