Would you like to get into better shape, keep yourself more limber, or for those who are retired, simply to keep yourself more socially involved with others on a regular basis? How about walking indoors with other like-minded individuals, three mornings a week. As I envision this group, we would have members of all ages (boomers to golden agers), sexes, and activity levels (tortoise to hare).
I like to walk to stay in shape, however, walking by myself, I can always think of other things to do when it's time to walk. It is always more fun to do exercise as part of a group, and it would be a social interaction that a retired person like me could look forward to. The beauty of the mall, is of course, that it is warm and dry in the winter, and air conditioned in the summer. The second floor of the mall is carpeted, and unlike sidewalks, is level - good for those who have joint or back issues, or fear falls. Another benefit is that you can make your walk any length, simply by crossing to the other side and doubling back. For those of us craving more social interaction, this event is an opportunity to further make this walk a social event by making plans with fellow walkers to stay afterwards for: a matinee movie; a cup of coffee and conversation; lunch; or shopping.
There is no need to RSVP for this event every time that you participate in a walk. If you will RSVP for the first time you intend to walk, that would help me gauge interest for this activity and alert me to welcome you at your first walk.
We will meet inside the mall, in front of Dillards Department Store, on the second floor. We will walk counter-clockwise from the front of Dillards. If you arrive late, simply walk clockwise, and you will eventually meet up with us. If for some reason I am detained one day, by all means, start without me.
