The Cancellation of Events due to Inclement Weather

Most running and swimming events/races are not canceled due to rain at the start of the event. Often the organizers of these events wait an hour or so for the heavy rain to subside or for the lightning to pass and start the race. However, wet pavement often necessitates the cancellation of biking events.

Nevertheless, the promoter and organizers often do not reimburse and give refunds for soggy events or events that are canceled due to weather conditions.

Why???

Most of the fun runs are associated with a charity which are burdened with "upfront costs." These costs include traffic control/permits, police, renting venue, awards, food, and other amenities for the athletes.

Therefore, be happy with another silly T-shirt in your drawer and don't sweat about losing another 25 bucks!
