Richland Creek Greenway Walk

We enjoy this walk so much that we've made it almost a weekly thing. The route is beautifully paved and wide, and at 3.75 miles around the loop, we get done around 11:00. The scenery varies from open vistas across the McCabe golf course to leafy shaded views of the clear streams. We can see the wildflowers come & go as the seasons unfold from visit to visit. So far this year we have seen Mallards, Kingfishers, Canada Geese, Herons, Box Turtle, Red Eared Sliders, a Huge Snapping Turtle, Skinks, and Muskrats. You never know what will be next! As fall comes on we will likely see a wider variety of birds.

I prefer to meet at the White Bridge Road Trailhead, 'cause there are park benches there. We will start the walk from there, but it's tricky to find. (Try looking on Google Earth.) In fact, it's near impossible to find the first time, GPS DOES NOT WORK, it will send you possibly to Target or somewhere else. Every week someone gets lost, so scout it out beforehand, or come early to allow time for some 'exploring'. (On the plus side: it's lightly used.)

If you prefer, you can park near the Publix Grocery Store on Harding, and access  the greenway from the Hill Center Trailhead, which is tucked around on the back left side of the grocery store. (There are no benches there.) It's a delightful walk, you take the new foot bridge over the creek, and it leads leads over to our starting point, it adds about 1/2 mile to the walk overall.

If you have some Friday mornings free, come and join us!

(If it is pouring rain, or showers with lightning, we will cancel; if it is cold and drizzly, we go.)

(Note: this walk begins at 9:35 sharp.)
