Telegraph Ave & Bancroft Way (map)
On Sunday (Feb 5), I'm considering doing a tourist / sightseeing run that makes a big loop through Marin and San Francisco. Overview map is here:

Running distance is either 6.5, 13 or 18 miles depending on the option. Highlights are the ferry ride, scenic views from the trails, and an historic military site in the Marin headlands (Battery Townsley). The site was recently restored and open to visitors on the first Sunday of each month from noon to 4PM. Some information about the site is here:

Tentative itinerary is:
1. Meet at Bancroft Way & Telegraph Ave (in Berkeley) at 9:30AM. Take AC Transit F bus to San Francisco. Departs 9:41AM, arrives Temporary Transbay terminal, 10:22AM. Cost $4.20. Could also take BART to Embarcadero station in SF.
2. Jog several blocks to San Francisco Ferry Building. Take Ferry to Sausalito (considered to be one of most scenic in the world). Departs at 10:40AM, arrives Sausalito 11:10AM. Cost is $9.25.
3. Hike / jog through Sausalito and then on the Costal Trail to the the coast. 6.5 miles. Very scenic.
4. Visit Battery Townsley. Open from noon to 4PM.
After that, there are several options:
Option 1: Take a bus (MUNI 76) back to BART. Departs half past each hour from the beach near Battery Townsley. Latest departs 6:30PM. Fare is $2.
Option 2: Continue jogging on the Costal trail to and across Golden Gate bride. About 6.5 miles. Very scenic. Take MUNI 76 back from there. Departs Golden Gate toll plaza, approximately 12 minutes before each hour, latest is 6:47PM. Fare $2.
Option 3: Do jog in option 2 (above) then continue jogging on trails through Lands End park to near the Dutch Windmill and Ocean Beach. About 5.5 miles. Take MUNI 5 or 31 from Cabrillo and La Playa Street back to BART. These MUNI buses depart about every 10 minutes. The ride to BART takes about 40 minutes. Fare $2.
After one of the above options, take BART back to Berkeley. Fare $3.65.
If you (or anyone you know) might be interested in doing this, let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff
