The hike was awesome - even though I overestimated my fitness ability. Hopefully, I will improve with each hike. It was nice to sit and talk with everyone at lunch after the hike.

Mt. Carmel Ave is off Rt 10 (Whitney Ave). Eduardo take the Rt 40 connector off I 91, go to end, stay right and go North on Rt 10. Mt. Carmel Ave is a few lights up, turn right. The park is across street from Quinnipiac Univ.

hopefully next time when the ice clears.

Folks, I hiked this afternoon and the conditions are improving. The micro spikes or stabilizers will still be helpful in many locations. I came across more dirt than on previous days.
Still come on out even if you don't have the spikes/stabilizers, I know you will enjoy the hike. Some thing about clean crisp air, snow, and the hills!
    See ya!!

Nervous about the ice but will try to find some spikes today. Would yaktraks work?

    March 6, 2014

    • Cathryn

Thanks... Just bought some online so if they get here in time, I'll be there.

      March 6, 2014

    • Jim B.

Cathryn, not much ice, more hard pack which was soft this afternoon. The yaktraks should work fine.

I know it's suppose to be in the 50's on Sunday but if there is ice - I am sure I will fall. Oh well, maybe next time

    March 6, 2014

  • Jim B.

    To all Attending:
I've been out a few times over the last 10 days and all the trails have significant hard pack requiring some form of spikes or stablizers. I recommend microspikes if you have them or at least the walking spikes sold by "Ocean State JobLots".
    See you all on Sunday.

    March 4, 2014

    • Jim B.

Another thought would be to try BJ and Costco.

      March 5, 2014

    • Ann M.

Thanks, Jim. I'll give it a try.

      March 6, 2014

  • Karen

No time to track down spikes so I'm going to have to pass on this hike.

    March 6, 2014

  • Steve

Don't forget the time change is 2am this Sunday morning so set your clocks accordingly. The hike will start one hour earlier than your body thinks it should.

So what level is this walk?

    February 3, 2014

    • Jim B.

Jo-Ann, there are 4 different levels; social, moderate (which I lead), advanced, and expert. Which level u choose depends on your aerobic capabilities. Note, the advanced and expert levels are a serious workout. Most people go in the social or moderate groups. Jim
