Joe's House (private residence) (map)
F I E S T A ! ! !
at Joe's House in Highland, MD
Friday, March 30th
7:00 PM
Potluck Dinner and Games
Bring your favorite Mexican, South American, Caribbean or Cuban dish.
Joe will provide a prize for the best home-made dish.
Guests are also welcome to dress to the theme as well.
(This means Joe will wear his Panama Jack hat instead of a baseball cap!)
Joe will also make his (almost-famous) Vegetarian Chili.
(If you eat it with tortilla chips, then it fits the theme, right?
We will play trivia games (probably about bizzare statistics from Mexico if you know Joe, LOL!), party games and whatever other games anyone brings along and wants to play.
Here is a link to a google map for a point close to Joe's house:
The exact address will be emailed prior to the meetup.
i will also provide a pot of spanish rice, another pan of refried beans, and some tortillas warming in the oven. will also make an attempt at shrimp diablo. of corse i'll have plenty of salsa.
As of today, I'm closing this event to new RSVP's - it may re-open later this month, as we get closer to the date, if anyone already signed up changes their RSVP's (although signing up far in advance and changing an RSVP close to the date or being a no-show is not encouraged) :-)
Remember - the "Fiesta" theme to this event -
Bring your favorite Mexican, South American, Caribbean or Cuban dish. Joe will provide a prize for the best home-made dish.
i need a volunteer to come about 15 minutes early to help me set up an extra table in my living room (just like the last two events at my house). this is not hard labor at all; just better done before a lot of people show up.
Although I am new to this meetup I am eager to get involved so therefore I am willing to come early and help if that's ok with you. Let me know.
shonda- that would be fine; thanks. i have a large table with folding wings to be set up. not difficult but a two person job.
Ok great! Please don't forget to send me your address ahead of time. Thanks
As this is a limited capacity event being held at someone's private home, NO-SHOWS will be marked on your meetup profile (in an area that only organizers can see) and being a NO-SHOW may prevent you from being permitted to attend such an event in the future. If you cannot attend, please change your RSVP ahead of time to allow a space for someone else to attend. Thank you, and enjoy the event! Joe goes out of his way to be a super host and parties at his house are always fun!
Remember the "Fiesta" theme for this evening's event, and please feel free to bring a game you would like to play.
did the address go out yet? i didnt see it in my in box
if not please provide a phone number so i can contact someone to get it i cant camp out by the computer today waiting for it
I sent out the address earlier this week, might have been Tuesday. I'll send it to you again. Will also call you.
@ Toby - cheesecake sounds good! -We'll just call it tarta de queso!
It'd be nice if someone or multiple someones will take some photos to post here on the meetup site.
sorry folks; we did not award the best food prize nor prizes for the three games I had planned; in fact we did not even play the othergames. the inata remained untouched too. i'll save the prizes for a future event.
joe,
thank you so much for opening up your lovely house to us yesterday, thank you for being such a great host and planning and providing so many great things. I cant wait till the next party.
don
Joe,
I agree with what Donald said! Thank you so much for hosting a wonderful party! It seemed like everyone had a lot of fun! You went out of your way to make it especially festive and we did play some very fun games! I think there were a few of us that you asked to help you choose the best dish and there were so many very good dishes it was so hard to choose! Thanks again for a great party! Lisa
asking who is the patron saint of mexico is NOT a bizzare statistic!
